Those words aren’t just a slogan — they’re the way Dan and Phyllis Lloyd, our co-founders, live their lives.

Married for over 33 years, Dan and Phyllis have built a life rooted in family, food, and community. They are proud parents of four children and five grandchildren, and every recipe and decision at Big Dog Sauce reflects those same family values.

Experience Meets Passion

Phyllis brings over 13 years of retail management experience and seven years in food and beverage leadership. She has a natural talent for connecting with people and making sure every detail — whether at an event or in the store — runs seamlessly.

Dan’s background is equally diverse, with 15 years in food and beverage, six years in retail management, and seven years in the technology industry. Born in Detroit and raised in Denver, Dan carried a love of bold flavors and creative food with him. Together, he and Phyllis settled in New Hampshire in 2017 and quickly made it home.

The Spark That Became Big Dog Sauce

In early 2022, Dan had an idea that would change everything: to create sauces that were healthy, gluten-free, and packed with flavor — without all the artificial fillers. What started as a spark in their kitchen quickly grew into Big Dog Sauce Company, a true family-run business that’s now expanding from New England favorites to a brand with national recognition.

A Love for Animals

Dan and Phyllis’s passion extends beyond food — they are also dedicated animal lovers. Their home is full of life thanks to their three rescue dogs:

• Zelda, an Arabian Cunucu from Aruba

• Nova, a Black Lab/Great Pyrenees mix

• Odin, a pittie mix who proudly serves as the official Big Dog Sauce mascot

Their love for animals inspires them to support local rescues and give back whenever they can.
